    27th Jul 2009Colchester and London
On my way home, I travelled on 90014 from Colchester to London, where I photted 37610 and 37611 on 1Q18 at Liverpool Street, and a Colas Spoon at Bromley South, where I was epically bowled by a 375.
    25th Jul 2009Great Yarmouth Spoon Drag - 47832
Nice sunny day in Norfolk, for 47832 on the Yarmouth Drags. A great farce with the loco and a fire at Crown Point meant we only did one trip, as we were mega late.
    24th Jul 2009Lowestoft Extras - 47501 + 47802
As part of the Lowestoft Airshow, NXEA put on extra trains to cope with the huge numbers of people visiting the Suffolk seaside town. The trains were formed of a MK3 set, top n tailed with 47501 and 47802. They ran from Norwich-Lowestoft. Cheers Craig for a brilliant day.

18th Jun 2009Dollands Moor and Folkestone
Went out to Sandling, in hope of 56311 on a new Colas Intermodal. Unfortunately, it didn't run today, but I saw 92026 running 5 minutes before the set departure time of the 56, and in its path, was an MPV! How embarrassing.
At Dollands Moor, two 58's were seen, waiting to go under, and well as several class 92's and 66's. 67002 and 67003 brought the VSOE past, on its way to Folkestone. I then followed it down, photted it at Folkestone West, and then up on the cliffs at Capel, on my way home.
    13th Jun 2009The Dartmouth Express - 70013
The day started off bad, when I realised that 47245 would be the leading loco from Paddington - Bristol, which was a designated diesel leg. 47245 is about the most quiet, tamest loco on the network.
At Bristol, we picked up a real loco, in the form of 70013 'Oliver Cromwell.' She took us down to the Paignton and Dartmouth railway, where the resident class 25 was attached to the rear to push us up over the cliffs, and down into Paignton.
An enjoyable few hours were spent wandering around Paignton and Dartmouth, before returning as per the outward route, dropping 70013 at Bristol, and continuing back to London with 47245.
    4th Jun 20096Z48 - Westenhanger
47727 and 47749 on the 6Z48 Burton - Dollands Moor steel working at Westenhanger.

The class 205 Thumper, 205001 (1101) is set to be restored and returned to service next year at the East Kent Railway.
This collection will house photos of its restoration, which I am heavily involved in. So far, myself and Steve Smith have worked very hard on the grotty jobs, such as scraping away dirt and rust, and red oxiding components and the roof.
The unit will be returned in BR Blue livery.
3rd May 2009K&ESR 'The Last Train's Gone Gala'
A brilliant event laid on by the K&ESR to commemorate the last train to run on the line in BR Days.

    14th Apr 2009Taunton-Cardiff 67's
The second day of my trip took me to Bridgwater where I picked up the Taunton-Cardiff 67 train, lead by 67017 with 67025 on the rear.
I also took a trip on the WAG 57 which wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be.... in terms of thrash!

    Great Eastern Wanderings
An interesting few days on the Great Eastern Mainline, produced many interesting sightings. Starting off at Marks Tey, I saw several 90's and 66's as well as 37423 pushing an inspection saloon.
The following day, I managed to snap 47818 at Colchester, aswell as some other workings. And on the Friday, I spent some of the day at Stratford, on my way home, to see some freight workings, one of which being a couple of 86's.

The occassion was at about 11pm when 31602 and 31190 visited Dover with the 1Z06 Test Train. Although it was late, I couldnt refuse going down for a phot!

Another VSOE Kent Luncheon train was seen today, again, with Clan Line. Due to a bridge being hit by a lorry in Dover, I could only get to Chartham to see it.
I experimented shooting in chrome, which was a BIG mistake. The shot of 35028 is rubbish!

    27th Sep 2008Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway Gala 2008
Will this be the very last SKLR gala?
    Lets hope not.
In 2009, the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway will probably not be in existance, due to the land being sold by their landlords.
Please, join the SOS 'Save Our Steam Railway' campaign, by sending an email or letter of support to the railway.

    Visit www.sklr.net for more information.

Nevertheless, the SKLR held a brilliant gala, featuring 'Triumph, ' Melior' and 'Barton Hall.'
Due to the outstanding number of passengers, all turning up to support the railway, the timetable was thrown out of the window, and trains ran as frequently as they possibly could.
24th Sep 200870013 'Oliver Cromwell' on Martin Mill Bank.
Sadly it was getting dark, so the photo is grainy, but my word.. what a noise that was making!

    21st Aug 2008Majorca 2008 - Soller Railway & Trams
During my aamzing holiday to Majorca, I managed to find an electric railway, dating for the 1920's, which runs from the islands capital, Palma, to a small town in the North of the island, called Soller. There is then a tramway, of the same gauge (3 foot) that runs from Soller, to the Port of Soller, offering brilliant views of the Harbour.

The Palma-Soller Railway, begins by running through the streets of Palma, causing chaos to motorists :). It then runs flat through the Orange & Lemon Groves, until it begins to climb up through the mountains, giving spectacular scenery. The line cuts through a 2 mile long tunnel, then weaves around the mountainside, until it eventually reaches Soller.

Apologies for the rubbish quailty of photos, but my camera is on its last legs, and I cant see the screen, so I have to guess where the train is!

An amazing day out organised by the K&ESR and the RCTS. We all met at 7.30am at Ashford and took a very posh coach with a very entertaining driver right the way down to Froissy, which to be honest, is in the middle of nowhere! The gala featured 5 steam locos, 2 of which were on passenger duties and 3 were on freight.
One thing, if health and safety from the UK went over there, the railway would be instantly shut down. However this was one of the best railways I have ever been on... so screw the UK Health & Safety!

22nd Sep 2007Adisham Station- Is it Art?
The new 'livery' of Adisham station. The local chavs have graffitied the station, for the second time in the past few months. Only managed to get a few photos as I was passing through on a train. I'm not keen on railway graffiting, but thats about as good as it gets, and thankfully there were no swear words! Shouldn't be on a station though!!!

    27th Aug 2007K&ESR Open Day 2007
Working on the number 1 siding in Tenterden Town Station today. It was the open day, and we were hard at work, with many trains running beside us. The P-Class and 25 were out, and as the DMMU failed, it had to dragged around all day by the 33!

Took a trip, whilst on holiday to the North Norfolk Railway. bit of an unlucky day for me though. Missed the bus, missed my train from Norwich, and covered myself in hot tea!!! Oh well. Nice railway, and nice locos. The J15 and N7 were running. On the way back I stopped off at Wroxham for an hour to see the BVR for one last time. I saw 'Spitfire' arrive, and then i dashed to the station to catch my train back to Lowestoft.

Later on I went up to St Stephens level crossing to see the train leave on its way back to London.

6th Jul 2006Railways in Normandy (France)
Some photos that me and my family took in France. Look out for the unusual shots on the Velo rail de pont Erambourg, which is a preserved line in Swiss Normandy. They have a few locomotives and restored rolling stock, but you can hire out special trolleys with pedals, which allows you to cycle down the 5km line! But beware of when you meet another as you have to lift it off the track to allow them to pass! VERY HEAVY, BUT GREAT FUN!

11th May 2006The Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
Some photos from the beloved 15 inch gauge miniature mainline running from Hythe- Dungeness, on the Kent Coast.
The locomotives are mainly all pacific designs based on main line locomotives, but there are a few exceptions. There are two mountaineer design (4-8-2's) and an 0-4-0. There are also two bo-bo diesels and three petrol shunters used to shunt at New Romney.

    The East Kent Railway
As a member of the EKR, I feel more advertising needs to be made in order to boost passenger levels on the railway. So, if you are in the Dover/ Canterbury area at anytime, why not take a visit to the railway? We run trains nearly every Sunday from March until October and the Santa specials in December prove very popular with the kids! Many special events have been booked for 2007, and if you would like to find out more info go on: www.eastkentrailway.co.uk.
The railway provides a 4 mile round trip from the sleepy village of Shepherdswell to the rural village of Eythorne. Passenger services are usually hauled by a class 101 Diesel multiple unit, but occasionally some of the lines electric stock may be seen whizzing up and down accompanied by a class 09 shunter. The railway wishes to bring steam back, but the costs are too much to repair the loco we have onsite. So if you are in the area at anytime, feel free to drop in to our freindly environment!

    History
The East Kent Railway was built between 1911 and 1917 to serve the growing number of Coal mines in the local area. It was constructed under the order of Colonel Holman Fred Stephens, who also built the Kent & East Sussex Railway, aswell as many other light railways. Passengers were bugun to be carried in 1916. The line fell short of trade and was closed in 1948.
Luckily the Shepherdswell to Tilmanstone Colliery line was kept, and survived right until 1984.
In 1985, the preservation society began salvaging the site, and clearing the track. Demonstration trains ran shortly after, and when the line was passed for use right down to Eythorne, the service trains started to run. In the 22 years of preservation, the site has changed dramatically, and is now somthing that the Colonel would be proud of!

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you have a spare weekend once in a while, why not consider becoming a volunteer on the EKR. Even if you turn up once a year, it still keeps our wheels turning! Please, if you live in the local area, come along and find out what sort of roles are on offer to you. Volunteers should be over the age of 13 and should have a basic knowledge of railway safety. Don't worry if you don't know anything, just turn up and learn like we all did! More of the younger generation are encouraged to help out, as there will be no one to run the railway when the older staff move on. I am currently the youngest volunteer.
    Thanks for your co-operation.

    LATEST NEWS

The class 09 diesel shunter is being repainted into a near BR Green, which will replace its Connex livery. Also, the 101 DMMU is being gradually repainted into BR Blue with help from some very dedicated volunteers.
We also have some news volunteers to help the railway.

The new level crossing gates at Eythorne have been completed and look great.
The miniature railway is having an extension built.
